First Week of Fall
Now that it’s Thursday I believe I have come back from the upper stratosphere. Our staff has been cruising around with great energy after having experienced all that we did together this last weekend. What a great way to kick off the Fall. I hope you were all able to take in a service because it was truly a memorable one. One person on our team said it was the most ambitious service he had ever been a part of in his significant run here at EBC…add in some burritos, a brunch and a bouncy game and it made for a PACKED weekend.
Below are some pictures and after that is an email I sent out to our staff this last Monday. If you were a volunteer that helped pull all of this off, please keep reading so that I can extend my appreciation to you as well.
Good morning everyone,
This morning I had a chance to go for a bike ride and found the images of this last weekend rolling through mind uncontrollably. I couldn’t stop but smile, laugh and tear up. I’m sure anyone observing me was concerned for my emotional well-being. I kept replaying how God is and will be the “God of this city.” I kept thinking about all the buzz around burritos and brunches that was clearly drawing people into community at our campus. I couldn’t help but think about a Telecast that was done at the quality of ESPN…or the drums, the synchronized lights, or the staging. The connection between all three sites through simulcast and the opener. That one guy that said “This is hard…but God saved me…”. A message that brought laughter and tears and…why not throw a choir in there and another soul-touching video. In a word…UNBELIEVABLE!
We had some friends of ours show up this last weekend and I just kept thinking how thankful I was to have them experience all that happened.
Sometimes the words “thank you” feel like they don’t cover it. Like there should be bigger words or something more dramatic like “THANK YOU!!!!!” but it all falls short of the true sentiment of how I feel on the Monday morning after such a weekend.
I hope you all know the impact your attention to detail, your long hours and your focus on excellence has had on the people of the WBL site and on our church.
Thanks for your work – I’m honored to be on the team with all of you and hope your hearts are as full as mine this morning!
