A Big Win!
I’ve never run a marathon, but I’ve known a few people who have. It seems that each one started with a similar expectation of success their first time out. In that first race, winning didn’t necessarily require taking home the trophy—for most first-timers, winning simply meant crossing the finish line.
We’ve been experiencing all kinds of “firsts” since we opened our campus at Spring Lake Park in December of ’07. This past weekend we experienced our first Easter. Those who served on Saturday and Sunday agree: Easter weekend was a marathon! We offered six services in the worship center and space for hundreds of kids in age-appropriate environments. As we crossed the finish line on Sunday afternoon, the SLP Easter marathon was a colossal win on many levels.
Our volunteers were spectacular.
The Eagle Brook staff ministered with a servant’s heart.
Our SLP regulars moved to the additional service times to open up seating in the prime time services for our guests—thanks everyone!
Every service had enough attenders; no service had too many; the spread was perfect.
Volunteer Central was in constant ebb and flow as new friendships were formed around indescribable culinary delights.
And who can say enough about the worship experience and life-changing message? Wow!
Behind the scenes our tech and creative teams literally worked around the clock making preparations for a stunning presentation of Christ’s resurrection.
Staff and volunteers alike invested themselves unselfishly.
As we completed the Easter marathon on Sunday afternoon, hundreds of people had gathered at SLP to celebrate the resurrection and more than fifty of them said “Yes!” to Christ. Undeniably, Easter was a big win! Not only did we cross the finish line—we also took home the trophy!
