Astonishing!
Fall Kickoff was more than any of us could have imagined. In typical Eagle Brook fashion, our tech team worked night and day to launch our new ministry season with simulcast technology.
And what a weekend we all experienced. A pre-service show hosted by Mike Hadley. The God-focused worship with our three campuses praising God in unison, including a choir at each location. A message by Pastor Bob that one man described as “the best message I’ve ever heard.” It was a historic moment and a moving experience.
People responded to our plea to choose Saturday evening as a regular worship time. The 4:05 and 6:05 services on Saturday were comfortably full with room for others who want to make the switch. The Sunday morning 9:05 and 11:05 services were nearing capacity, but not over-the-brim full. Overall, we had a good attendance spread for the largest weekend turnout since we opened last December.
Kids spilled out of Club-K-Rock (first through fifth grades) and Kid-O-Deo (birth through kindergarten) with smiling faces, eager to return next week. Parents and teens gathered around the student ministries table to get more information about Wednesday’s launch of Ground Zero (junior high) and Revolution (high school).
As we closed the doors to the church building and headed for our cars after the final service, we all breathed a sigh of joyful relief. It’s good to have this first simulcast weekend—with all of its complex components and the many things we learned—in our bag of experiences. Hundreds of staff and volunteers pulled together to make Fall Kickoff an experience beyond compare.
Today I reflect on this past weekend with a deep sense of appreciation for everyone who participated and served…and I’m looking forward to next weekend when we’ll gather again to meet with one another, serve one another and worship our awesome God.
