Daniel: Unshaken Faith … When Life is Going Great
On Aug. 21/22, Senior Pastor Bob Merritt continued the Daniel series with “Unshaken Faith … When Life is Going Great.”
Louie Giglio (founder of the Passion conferences and Passion City Church in Atlanta, Ga.,) says, “If God is the great I AM, then I am not. We all ought to wear nametags to church that say ‘Hello, I Am Not.’” Not in a self-demeaning sort of way, but in a humble way before God. God is great, I am not. God is wise, I am not. God is awesome, I am not. God is pure, I am not. God is sovereign, I am not. Get that backward, and trouble follows.
When we think more of ourselves than of God, we need to ask ourselves four questions:
1. Is there anything in our lives that makes us prideful?
Why does God oppose the proud? Because prideful people tend to think of themselves more than they think of God. It’s a form of idolatry. My kingdom becomes more important than God’s kingdom. More scripture on pride: Proverbs 16:5, Psalm 31:23, James 4:6 and Proverbs 16:18.
2. Do you know anyone who refuses to turn around?
3. Is God speaking to you about an area of pride that has the potential to destroy everything you have?
4. Does anybody need to look up and let Jesus become Lord of your life?
Don’t wait. Look up.
Join us next weekend for week 5 of the Daniel series “Unshaken Faith … When the Writing’s on the Wall.”
