Daniel: Unshaken Faith … When You’re Facing the Fire

On Aug. 14/15 Senior Pastor Bob Merritt continued “Daniel: Unshaken Faith” with week 3 “Unshaken Faith … When You’re Facing the Fire.”

Trusting God is easy when life is going well, but what about when everything collapses around you? Will you still trust him in the fire? In Daniel 3, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego are threatened to renounce their faith or be killed. Would you stand strong, or cave in?

When faced with a fire, remember:

• That God is able to save you.

The three men said to the king, “Nebuchadnezzar, we don’t need to defend ourselves before you. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God whom we serve is able to save us” (Daniel 3:16).

• The deepest kind of faith is a faith of no matter what.

Three takeaways:
1. Expect the fire.

2. It’s in the fire where miracles happen.

Because that is where God is! There were four men in the fire — “Look, I see four men, unbound, walking around in the fire. They aren’t even hurt by the flames! And the fourth looks like a divine being” (Daniel 3:25).

As Christine Caine (author and founder of the A21 Campaign) has said, “We often pray for miracles, but then we avoid the places where miracles can happen.” A lot of us pray for God to remove the fire, but what if the fire is what God wants to use to change us, grow us? When we remove the fire, we remove the opportunity for miracles.

3. Because the fire’s coming, make your decisions today.
