Don’t Give Up On Me: Give Me a Second Chance

On March 5/6, Pastor Jason Anderson continued the “Don’t Give Up on Me Series.”

Wouldn’t it be great to have a mulligan in life?

I think most of us say that we would love to have a “do over” in some area of life.

Whether that’s a past relationship, or something we said to our spouse, we’d probably love to have another chance to do things differently. But we can’t.

That’s what makes the story of Jonah so encouraging, because God gives Jonah a second chance, even though he ran from God. And that’s what makes Jonah’s story our story. We all run from God in our own way, but God does something we don’t deserve: he gives us a second chance.

But why? Why would he be so gracious to give people like us a second chance?

Two reasons why God gives second chances:

1. God has a work that he wants to do in us.

2. So that we can tell others about the God of second chances.
