Getting in the Game

My wife and I enjoy hanging out with our five grandchildren. And the fun escalades when all three of our kids and their families pile into our house for an extended family get-together. Sometimes the adults will huddle around the dining table to play games with intense competition. Inevitably, one or two of the grandkids will pull up a stool and watch from the sideline. Soon a little hand is pulling on my shirtsleeve. “Papa, can I play too? Please, papa, I wanna play. I’m tired of watching, please let me play!”

Those who’ve experienced the thrill of participation aren’t content to sit on the sidelines and watch. It’s just not the same as being in the game.

Gathering with our church family is no different. Once you’ve been in the game, it’s difficult to sit on the bench or stand in the bleachers. There’s no thrill like the experience of getting in the game.

This past weekend Pastor Jason Strand opened our eyes to the importance of serving others. In addition, our Gifts pastors included an iCount card in the weekend program listing the openings on our volunteer team. A mere glance at the list confirms that there are openings for anyone who wants to participate. In fact, we’re asking 100 new players to get into the game at Spring Lake Park.

If you’ve never volunteered at Eagle Brook, we’ll help you find a place to serve that’s just right for you. All it takes is a first small step. Click here to get more information or to take your first step toward serving. Experience the thrill of getting into the game.
