God’s Presence, Generosity and Community Impact
God made His presence known in an amazing way this past weekend—words can hardly express our awe.
Josh and the band led our church family in God-exalting praise and worship through song, scripture, and personal reflection. Together we experienced a deep sense of appreciation for God’s provision of security and hope as we stand on “Christ the Solid Rock.”
God spoke powerfully through Jason Anderson’s message—high priest, goat and all (if you weren’t there, be sure to watch the message online). Jason’s six-word phrase, “the goat has left the building” is wedged in our minds as a daily reminder that Christ has fully dealt with our sins.
Had the service ended there, we would have walked away celebrating the new life we have in Christ—a life in which we stand before our Holy God thoroughly forgiven, without condemnation. But there was more. Josh and the band returned to lead us in giving praise and worship to our Great High Priest, Jesus Christ. Our church family went beyond mouthing the words as we lifted our voices together in an authentic expression of heart and soul, “Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe; sin had left its crimson stain, He washed it white as snow.”
Tears flooded the eyes of most as they contemplated the price Jesus paid for our salvation. Others lifted hands to exalt our Savior who died on the cross, was buried in a tomb and rose again the third day. For many, an understanding of Christ’s role as our Great High Priest became clear for the first time. For all, it was a time of joyful celebration.
This took place on the weekend we pooled our resources across three campuses to support the food shelves in our local communities. Our church family opened their hearts, wallets and pantries to give generously and unselfishly so that hungry people will have enough food to eat. What an astonishing expression of compassion.
God is showing His grace through Eagle Brook, as well as many other churches in our area. By the way, did you get a chance to read the front-page article in the Sunday Star Tribune about Eagle Brook? If not, click here to read it…and then take a moment to humbly thank God for His remarkable grace.
