Good morning Meg, Dave, Nelly and Sara,
We pray for you daily and know that God is leading all of you. These are the dull drums of winter but a few more weeks we’ll have it licked and spirits will rise again. I think the early part of winter/spring semester can be the hardest to keep your hopes up. Everyone feels it, but it’s just a couple more months and we’ll all be doing better. You’re right where God wants you, doing what God has led you to do. Money will come, joy will come, sense of family and normalcy will return – these are probably the hardest days of your lives and it only gets better.
Scripture: “So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the governor, the spirit of Joshua the high priest, and the spirit of the whole remnant of the people (to rebuild God’s house).” Haggai 1:14.
Application: So the Lord stirred up their spirit. The Lord does the stirring, and he does it for a purpose—to get people to move, do something, go somewhere, accomplish something. He doesn’t stir people up just to stir them up so they have a feeling of being stirred up. He does it for a purpose—in this case, to build His temple. And He stirred up everyone at the same time. I should look for others who are stirred up like I am. Or, if others are stirred up, maybe I should check my own spirit. The Lord does the stirring, he does it for a reason, and often he does it in the spirits of many at the same time for the same reason. What am I stirred up about these days? What are others stirred up about? If I haven’t been stirred up in a while, why is that?
Prayer: God, stir me up about the things you care about and want me to be passionate about. Stir in me a passion for others, your church, my family, my responsibility to write, lead, expand, reach, for the poor and lost. Stir me up Lord.
I love you guys. Have great day.
Dad
