Refreshing Others by our Generosity

Grace Pastor, Greg Grimstad, reported that the Eagle Brook church family across three campuses gave four tons of food in addition to $11,500.00 to support our local food shelves in our recent food drive. Way to go! I’m grateful for the generous spirit of our church.

Each year we participate in four church-wide outwardly focused church initiatives. Several weeks ago, we filled semi-trailers with furniture to support families in transition. Then, we gave food and finances to support our local food shelves. And in just a few weeks, we’ll give backpacks filled with school supplies to inner city kids.

The PowerPack outreach is a partnership between Here’s Life Inner City and urban churches and ministries. The church and ministry leaders in the inner city know their neighborhoods and reach out to those in need with the PowerPacks and the Gospel.

This year Here’s Life has received requests for more than 7,000 PowerPacks for churches and ministries to distribute to kids in their communities. Eagle Brook has committed to provide 3,000 of these backpacks filled with school supplies. A small number of backpacks will stay in our own community for families who are experiencing hard times. This is an opportunity for our church family to exhibit a spirit of generosity so that every kid can go to school with supplies and a backpack.

As an added bonus, we’ll have cards available for each donor to fill out and place in the PowerPacks telling the recipient that the gift came from you and that you’re praying for the student this school year.

Here’s how it’ll work. We’ve purchased three thousand backpacks with funds provided through the EBC God’s Amazing Church campaign. We’re asking our church family to purchase a complete set of school supplies for each backpack. You may choose to to fill 1, 10, 100 or more backpacks. You can get a supplies list by clicking here. You can drop off your set of school supplies at any of our campuses on the weekends of August 9/10 and 16/17.

A lot of kids in the inner city as well as in our own community are depending on us to provide the essentials they need for school. Please invest generously in this expression of grace and love.

The Bible book of Proverbs reminds us, “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.” Proverbs 11:24NLT

Thanks for the smiles you’re creating through your generosity.
