Some Holiday Thoughts

Merry Christmas everyone – Here’s a couple of things as we get ready for the next 5 days of Christmas (and beyond).

1.       Don’t miss it.  I’ve heard of a couple things being planned for the Christmas eve services and if it plays itself out like it’s planned – it’s going to be amazing.  Plan to come, bring your friends and make sure you’re in your seat when it starts.

2.       Give your kids the best Christmas Eve experience – which is with our kids pastors.  They also are dreaming of what can happen on Christmas Eve services for our little ones and they’ll want to make sure they are in there.  I have the temptation to be with my kids during Christmas and bring them into the service with me…however, I’ve come to realize that the 30 minutes of teaching isn’t hitting them the same way it hits me.  During the time that many lives are changing, my kids are wondering how far they can throw a paper airplane in this big room.  That won’t be the case in our kids ministries.  Do your best to encourage your friends and family to trust our kids pros as well – they’ll be glad they did.

3.       Services to be aware of – The RSVP’s have shown us pretty balanced attendance at our site through all 5 services with the 6:05 Tues and the 3:05 Wed leading the charge.  Neither look to be maxed out at this point, but I’m guessing these will be our 2 busiest services.  That might help you plan accordingly

4.       No Church Dec 27/28 – If you haven’t heard the word yet, we’re giving everyone a break from the Christmas sprint on this weekend.  It’s meant to create a break for our staff that is working so hard to pull off the 29 services of this upcoming weekend and Christmas Eve as well as the 1000’s of volunteers necessary to pull all this off.  It’s also a chance for you to give your family the greatest Christmas gift possible…TIME!  Hang out, play games, finish putting together those toys, sleep in and if you have the chance, find a place to serve and care for those in our community.

5.       Jan 3/4 starts the new series – Ask Anything.  We’ve been receiving 1000’s of questions to tee up our Teaching Pastors with the issues that people are most curious about.  So far it looks like End Times is one of those that risen to the top and will be the first weekend’s teaching.  I’ve heard about some other potential topics and I think this whole series will be appealing to all.

6.       Beyond the Logistics – I realize this has been driven by the details of church over the next 2 weeks….but, let’s do our best to take the time, reserve the energy and to prepare our hearts for the most important part of Christmas – the coming of our Savior, Lord and Guide.  If you haven’t done it yet, use this as your reminder to take some time in the next few days, detach from the sprint and say thanks to God for the amazing truth of how He came to earth.
