The Big Question
Hey everyone,
It’s been quite a week. I hope you didn’t choose last weekend to miss church because it was a humdinger (I just had to use that word). We had a service filled with worship, energy, solos and huge attendance (especially at the 9). We had Buffalo Wild Wings on Saturday and a spectacular brunch on Sunday. Our Starting Point class continued and new volunteers were in place. The message on becoming more sacrificial people topped the whole deal off. It was one of those great weekends to be a part of. Thanks to everyone who made it such a great experience!
Throughout the rest of the week I’ve had the chance to sit through an 8 hour seminar on “human performance” which reminded me of how critical my health and mission are. I attended a small group of guys who have shown HUGE growth over the last year, I’ve had the chance to sit in on strategic meetings that talk about how to take our staff and church to the next level. I’ve met with college friends at White Castle and I just finished meeting with a man that has inspired me by his life of reaching neighbors, caring for people who are under-resourced and learning how to teach people to find answers instead of giving answers.
I know most of you aren’t overly joyed to read about a week in the life of a pastor but there’s a theme that has come throughout. Here it is – “What am I doing here?”
This question was especially fueled by the “human performance” workshop, but throughout the week I’ve found myself intrigued by this question. What does God want to do with my energy and talents? In our Leadership Team, in my small group, with my friends and family, and in the role as a mentor and peer, what does God want to do through me? What gives me energy and what should I give my energy to?
I won’t give you any answers at this point – but I will ask you to wrestle with the same. “What are you doing here?” “What does God want to do through your energy and talents?”
Probably more then you were looking for today…but let me know what you come up with.
Speaking of mentoring – this weekend we wrap up our Awaken series with a message that you’ll want to hear on mentorship.
See you there!
