The Day After

I still can barely believe it all happened.  Church cancelled due to the inability to flush toilets, but, so it is.  I have to admit, our time in the parking lot was quite the adventure.  If you weren’t one of the people that came on Sunday, we set up multiple stations to hand people a program, a letter explaining what happened and a CD (when they were available).  As bad as it was to let everyone know that church was cancelled, I was really impressed to see the responses of everyone in the lot.  Some of my favorite replies were:

“I hope the facilities will be OK.”

“Is there any way we can help?”

“How will I make it without my weekly time of worhip?”

“Will you still take this” as a guy handed me his pre-made offering check.

And the response that got me most laughing was when I told one guy that church was cancelled – without skipping a beat he looked right back at me and said “Praise the Lord.”  I was glad his wife slugged him for me.

Here’s the latest.  Through finally putting a camera in the drainage system they were able to find the problem (they didn’t have this tool on the weekend).  They were able to remedy it, but the clean up is still going on in the lower level which is where “things” happened.  The upper level is available for use starting tomorrow (Tues) and the lower level should be available soon.

I appreciate your patience and your kind responses in the parking lot.  I was, once again, proud to be part of the community.

See you next weekend!
