Way to go SLP!

This past weekend was an action packed, people-connecting, volunteer-staffing, swirl of activity.  We exceeded our goals in every area—God continues to amaze us at Spring Lake Park.

Jason Anderson delivered a message about ministry opportunities for individuals with a heart to serve.  He announced the need for 200 volunteers and the SLP church family stepped up to the plate.  I peeked down the hallway toward room 142 and saw a line of new volunteers stretching beyond the doors and whispered a prayer of thanks to God.  I’m encouraged by the level of commitment and generosity at our SLP campus.  Our Gifts team and ministry staff streamlined the process for serving and provided an immediate next step for each new volunteer.  If you weren’t able to stop by a sign-up table last weekend, drop by the information booth—we have a place for you to serve.

In addition to the overwhelming response by our new volunteers, we were blown away by the attendance at Grouplink.  Our facilities team had to set up more chairs and tables as the crowd continued to grow.  Individuals became acquainted with each other as the afternoon progressed.  Our Groups staff and volunteers created a welcoming, fun environment and led through the process in such a way that individuals got connected into small groups.  Twenty-three new groups were formed on Sunday afternoon!

To top off an already fantastic weekend, we enjoyed giving glory to God through corporate worship under the energetic direction of our guest worship leader, Josh Dekker.  Josh encouraged us to find great joy in the freedom we have as followers of Christ.

In his message, Jason Strand treated us to a fun and serious look at how we view the resources God puts in our trust.  I believe God will use Jason’s message to move us from a “mine” mentality to a “generosity” approach to life.

Way to go!  What a weekend!  I’d like to read how God worked in your life at SLP this past weekend.
